Hitchhiker Production Still-Store
Hitchhiker Still Store is a low cost, easy to use, PC based system designed for the rapid pace of live on air production environments. Utilizing a small hardware control panel and easy to use interface, Hitchhiker is extremely adept at grabbing
images, making lists of images, and playing them back on air. For normal operations, the system doesn't need a normal PC keyboard or mouse. All operations are performed using the small dedicated control panel.
Live production is fast paced and unpredictable. You never know what's coming next so you need a still store that doesn't burden the operator with a slow and cumbersome user interface. Customers have been asking for an easy to use system that operated much like the
Abekas A42 and now they have one.
Abekas Video Systems sold the A42 Video Slide Projector from 1983 to 1990. Its design and simple operations inspired the development of the Hitchhiker system. Many A42 systems are still in service today because these customers haven't been able to find a suitable replacement.
