Jazz/Zip Reader: Driver configuration
Steps to follow for "CMCpHILEFSDrv" driver activation
- After installation, reboot the computer.
- Log in as administrator.
- Right-Click over My Computer Icon.
- In Windows NT/2K this icon is located over the Desktop.
- In Windows XP may be located in the Start Menu.
- If it is not, then right-click over the taskbar, select Properties, then click Start
Menu and Customize, then click Advanced, and scroll the Start Menu Item dialog until My Computer get visible.
- Check "Display as a link" or "Display as a menu", then press OK twice.
- Now press the Start button, right-click over My Computer and select "Manage".
- Select "Device Manager" and from the menu click "View" and select "Show hidden devices".
- In the right panel click over "Non-Plug and Play
Drivers", then 2-Click over "CMCpHILEFSDrv".
- Click Driver, then select "Automatic" in "Startup", then press the Start button, then press OK.
- If the CMCpHILEFSDrv driver is not visible, open the Jaz Reader installation folder and 2-CLick over XP_2.reg, then reboot, then try the procedure again.
How to install the driver "CMCpHILEFSDrv" if the automatic
install failed
- Log in as administrator.
- Run the executable "instdrv.exe" in the File Manager or Command prompt with
the required commandline parameters as described below:
instdrv.exe <driver-name> <driverfile-path>
e.g: If the file "CMCpHILEFSDrv.sys" is stored in the path
"C:\WINNT\System32"
then the command should be like this
instdrv.exe CMCpHILEFSDrv C:\WINNT\System32\CMCpHILEFSDrv.sys
This completes the installation of the driver.
The very next step to do is making the installed driver's startup mode as AUTOMATIC. This can be configured in the Control Panel by selecting the "Devices" icon in which the driver "CMCpHILEFSDrv" is listed under Non Plug & Play devices.
Select the device(CMCpHILEFSDrv) and change its startup mode to the required mode. AUTOMATIC startup mode
is recommended since the user does not have to start the driver manually everytime he/she logs onto the system.
Additional notes for IDE ZIP Drives
In order to make a IDE ZIP Drive working with Jazz Zip Reader, the following option
should be set in BIOS. The automatical detection for the ZIP drive should be disabled. The drive should be manually detected and the mode should be set to Harddisk, not to Floppy. To
enter the BIOS Setup, on some computers the key Delete or F2 should be depressed during the boot-up initialisation procedure.
